The Theory Of Link Dilution

The Diluting Of Links

Lately there has existed a flurry of talk about The Diluting Of Links and it’s no wonder.  If a few of the theories are right then it’s a topic that most people who Marketers, should think about seriously and burrow a little more before they elude some of their link value.

The fundamental premise behind Diluted links, is centered around  having an excess of links on a webpage dilutes the worth  of all the links on the web page and hence decreases the worth of the links.

Thanks to this hypothesis, a lot os IM’ers, tech pro’s and site owners are thinking all about  the way they construct their web pages.

The first thought that springs to mind is the question of resource box back links and is a single hyperlink more valuable than 2.  It looks like that this is the case, so it may actually be better to only place 1 back link in a directory’s writer’s box to get the best reward from that single backlink.

It’s worth noting that it means regularly the search engines will not register all links from a link infested page, although this could show that site maps couldn’t be of use and I can’t see this being the case.

I think  the major development on the theory of The Dilution Of Links is the status of paid for hyperlinks as it may seem that a paid front page link would be far less valuable if the links on that page increase.

What if you were purchasing a pr 9 link for $200 a month and having the lone link on that main page, then suddenly  there   were placed 25 more outbound links next to yours.  That would entirely devalue your link and it would be be closer to the worth of a page rank 3 link, which you wouldn’t hand out  a wad of cash each month for that are you?

you’ll find it’s a interesting choice as to how to process this information or even if you believe that Diluted links plays a real role.  What you do next will be vitally paramount?
